Bilal Tajildeen

Associate Dean of Institutional Advacement

A lifelong Waterbury, CT resident, Bilal was appointed as the inaugural associate dean of institutional advancement for CT State Northwestern in 2023 and was tasked with the formation of the advancement office. He is responsible for designing and implementing comprehensive institutional advancement programs, liaising as staff support for the Northwest Community College Foundation, and serves on several statewide community college committees and affinity groups. 

 

Prior to CT State Northwestern, Dean Tajildeen spent many years in the professional philanthropic sector. Most recently, he was the manager of membership and culture for the Connecticut Council for Philanthropy where he worked with over 100 foundations and philanthropy-serving organizations from Maryland to Maine. Prior to that, he was a program officer at Connecticut Community Foundation and managed six grant portfolios totaling in over $700,000 of distributions annually. 

Dean Tajildeen earned a master’s degree in English from Central Connecticut State University, primarily focusing on queer theory and political theory as well as LGBTQ literature. He serves as the president of the board of the New England Grassroots Environment Fund as well as the Leever Foundation and as a director on the boards of the Waterbury Bridge to Success Community Partnership, the People’s Place, and Equality CT. He is a national PLACES fellow alum through the Funder’s Network and a member of both the Strengthening Nonprofits grants committee at Connecticut Community Foundation and the Grants Committee at American Savings Foundation. He serves on the Board of Aldermen in Waterbury, CT.
