During the 2023 legislative session of the Connecticut General Assembly, the Higher Education and Employment Advancement Committee unanimously supported a slate of changes that would enshrine in law that the community college foundations remain legal entities separate from the administration of the state community college system. Upon passage from the House and the Senate and with the Governor’s signature, that piece of legislation became PUBLIC ACT NO. 23-3: AN ACT CONCERNING THE FOUNDATIONS OF THE REGIONAL COMMUNITY-TECHNICAL COLLEGES.
